Pneumatic Compressors
Calculating Air Consumption:
The two key factors when calculating air consumption are working pressure and airflow.
For air pressure, it is best practice to run the compressor at about 85% of the tools maximum ; for a gun with a maximum operating pressure of 100psi 80-90psi would suffice for most applications.
Each tool also needs a certain amount of air flow to operate, measured in litres per minute (L/min) or cubic feet per minute (CFM). The volume of air needed to operate a tools varies according to the size of tool and how often it is cycled per minute: A gun operating at 60 cycles per minute at 100psi will require 3.25 CFM to operate correctly, but the same tools operating at 30 cycles per minute will require half as much air.
